It started in a snow-draped cabin in Mazama, Washington — off the grid, on Starlink — at a moment when everything had ended at once. A ten-year career. An eight-year relationship. Years in Los Angeles. There was a future to face and no obvious map for getting there.
Facing it meant reaching for the best tools available — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini. None of them, alone, had everything. They were each better at different things, and moving between them meant rebuilding context over and over. So the work became building a single place where all of them could be used together, with one shared memory, privately.
The tool turned out to be genuinely better than anything else available. So it got shared — first with family, then a few friends, then more broadly. Completely bootstrapped. No marketing spend. The people who found it stayed. That tool became ARMES.
