Mutual Connections & Invitations
How connection requests work: mutual consent, rate limits, invite links, and managing your network.

Mutual Consent by Design
In ARMES, unsolicited messaging is technically impossible. You cannot send a direct message, add someone to a group chat, or invite them to an AI room without an established mutual connection.

Sending a Connection Request
- In People & Messages (
/people), click New Connection. - Enter the recipient's exact
@handle(or their email address if their discoverability setting permits). - Click Send Request.
Managing Incoming Requests
When someone requests to connect with you:
- An unobtrusive badge appears on your Connections tab.
- You can inspect their public display name,
@handle, and avatar. - Options:
- Accept: Establishes the connection immediately. You can now start private 1:1 DMs or add each other to shared rooms.
- Decline: Quietly dismisses the request. The sender is not notified of a decline (to prevent social awkwardness, their UI continues to show pending).
- Block: Permanently prevents the user from contacting you or discovering your profile.
Limits & Safeguards
- Daily Request Budget: Up to 20 connection requests per rolling 24 hours to prevent bulk outreach.
- 7-Day Cooldown: If a request is declined, you cannot send another request to that handle for 7 days.
- Removing a Connection: Removing an established connection immediately freezes any existing 1:1 DM between the two parties.
