Settings, Preferences & Agent Configuration
Master ARMES User Settings across 14 workspace sections, the Command Center in-canvas settings tab, and granular per-agent Agent Settings.
Overview: User Settings vs. Agent Settings
In ARMES, settings and customization are split into two distinct, purposeful domains:
1. The Dual User Settings Experience
Depending on which surface you are currently working on, User Settings adapts ergonomically:
A. Standalone Page (/settings)
When browsing standalone pages (such as Chat, Context, Library, or Dashboard), clicking Settings in your top-right Profile Dropdown opens the dedicated full-page settings experience at /settings.
- Responsive Drawer: On mobile devices, tap the hamburger menu in the settings header to open the section drawer; on desktop, a fixed sidebar provides instant navigation between sections.
- Section Deep-Linking: You can bookmark or navigate directly to any section using URL query parameters:

B. Command Center In-Canvas Tab (user-settings)
When working inside the Command Center (/command), you never have to abandon your active conversations, open notes, or documents to adjust settings.
- Clicking your Profile Avatar (top right) → Settings instantly opens a singleton in-canvas tab titled Settings in the center panel alongside your chat and note tabs.
- The tab features an embedded split-view with a section selector on the left and full interactive controls on the right.
- You can switch between your active tasks and settings seamlessly without page reloads.

6 Cross-Platform Entry Points to Agent Settings
You can open Agent Settings from whichever screen you are actively working in:
In Command Center, opening Agent Settings creates a tab in your center canvas; on standalone pages, it navigates to /bot/[agentId]/settings.
The 7 Sections of Agent Settings
- General: Modify the agent's display name, role summary, discipline tags, and custom robot avatar icon.
- Instructions: Provide agent-specific custom instructions (e.g., "Always write tests using Vitest. Never write Python classes."). These rules are layered onto the agent's base instructions whenever you chat with them.
- Memory: Control whether this agent has access to your long-term memory ledger, project context notes, or persistent files.
- Modes: Set the agent's default routing behavior (Auto Mode for smart compute rightsizing, Eco Mode for high efficiency, or pin a frontier engine).
- Webhook (Custom Agents): For custom or external agents, configure the target HTTPS webhook URL, authentication headers, and streaming settings.
- Info: Review the agent's release version, publisher credentials, and verified capabilities.
- Danger Zone: Clear this agent's chat history across all threads or remove the agent from your active roster.
