Human Identity in ARMES
AI workspaces are traditionally solitary environments. In ARMES, People & Messages (/people) lets you bring your trusted human collaborators—colleagues, co-founders, clients, and friends—into your private workspace.
Every human user in ARMES can claim a unique, global @handle.

Claiming Your @Handle
When you open People for the first time or visit Settings → People:
- You are prompted to claim your unique handle (e.g.,
@alexor@sarah_dev). - Handle Rules:
- 3 to 30 characters
- Lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores (cannot start with an underscore)
- Must be globally unique across ARMES
- Reserved system prefixes (
armes_,admin_,support_) are protected
Discoverability & Privacy Controls
We believe privacy should be the absolute default. There is no public user directory and no broad name searching. You have complete control over who can find you:

| Unlisted (Default) | Nobody. You are completely invisible. You can still initiate requests to others if you know their handle. |
| By handle | Only individuals who type your exact @handle can find your profile to send a request. |
| By handle or email | Only individuals who enter your exact handle or exact email address can find you. |
Safety & Abuse Safeguards
To prevent spam and unsolicited contact:
- Daily Request Cap: A user may initiate at most 20 connection requests per rolling 24-hour window.
- Cooldown on Decline: If someone declines your request, a strict 7-day cooldown is enforced before another request can be sent to that user.
- Silent Declines: Declining a connection is completely silent; the requester continues to see a pending status to prevent social friction.
- One-Click Block: Blocking is immediate and one-sided. The blocked user sees "User not found" and all direct message threads are permanently frozen.
