iPhone Duo, Dual-Leaf Split & Multitasking
Experience ARMES across all four postures of iPhone Duo, iPadOS Stage Manager, and the Dual-Leaf Split View in Command Center.
Designed for Every Pose of iPhone Duo
ARMES is natively engineered for iPhone Duo (iOS 27.1+ SDK) and iPadOS, adapting fluidly across displays, size classes, and physical hinge angles without losing a single streamed token or keystroke.
Rather than simply stretching a mobile phone layout across a wider screen, ARMES combines its mobile-first Chat Cockpit (/chat) and its three-panel Command Center (/command) into a unified, posture-aware experience.
The Four Postures of ARMES on iPhone Duo
1. Outer Display (Closed — 5.4")
When iPhone Duo is closed, ARMES presents the focused /chat interface tailored for fast, one-handed interaction:
- Vertical System Bar Adaptation: On iPhone Duo's outer display (and inner landscape/split view), iOS positions the status bar, Dynamic Island, and system controls along a vertical ~84pt side strip. ARMES automatically detects
UITraitCollection.verticalBarEdge(leadingortrailing) and insets headers, message streams, composer buttons, sheets, and the Floating Command Orb so controls are never occluded. - Side-Button Touch ID: Biometric app lock and sensitive-action confirmations automatically adapt to iPhone Duo's side-button Touch ID sensor.
2. Zero-Drop Fold Continuity (Outer $\leftrightarrow$ Inner Handoff)
When you unfold iPhone Duo from the 5.4" Outer Display to the 7.6" Inner Display mid-conversation:
- Automatic
/chat$\rightarrow$/commandHandoff: ARMES'sDuoContinuityControllerdetects the display transition, opens your active conversation inside the/commandworkspace, and enables Dual-Leaf Split View automatically. - Zero Lost Tokens or Drafts: Because
/chatand/commandshare ARMES's dual-tier persistence (chat-input-persistence.tsandstream-session-store.ts), active SSE response streams and unsent composer drafts continue without interruption. - Folding Back Closed: Closing the device transitions your active chat tab back to the one-handed
/chatview.
Book Pose & Dual-Leaf Split View (/command)
In Book Pose on iPhone Duo — or whenever you click the Split button in the /command tab bar on iPad or Desktop — the center workspace divides into two independent, side-by-side leaves: the Primary Left Leaf and the Companion Right Leaf.
Crease-Aware Geometry
On iPhone Duo, ARMES queries Apple's native UIView.reservedRegions(kind: .division) API to align the Left Leaf and Right Leaf around the physical fold curve, including interactive hinge margins so buttons and text never sit inside the crease.
Workflow A: Co-Intelligence Note Leaf (Chat + Live Note)
Pair an active agent conversation on the Left Leaf with a live Markdown note on the Right Leaf:
- Open Companion Note: Click the Note icon in the chat header (or select New Companion Note / any recent note in the Right Leaf picker).
- Pin Reply Across the Crease (Chat $\rightarrow$ Note): Whenever your agent finishes a response, click the Pin Reply to Note button in the chat header. ARMES appends the assistant's response—complete with a timestamped Markdown heading—directly into your open note on the Right Leaf.
- Reference Note in Chat (Note $\rightarrow$ Chat): In the Right Leaf note header, click
@ Send to [Agent]to attach that note as a@mentioncontext chip in your Left Leaf chat composer.
Workflow B: Dual-Agent Deliberation (Dual Sync)
Complex decisions benefit from multiple specialist perspectives. Pair two different specialist agents side-by-side (for example, CEO AI on the Left Leaf and Code Architect or Legal Counsel on the Right Leaf):
- In the Right Leaf picker under Dual-Agent Deliberation, click Dual Sync next to any specialist agent (or toggle the Dual Sync badge in the chat header when two chat tabs are split).
- Type a question in either chat composer and press Send.
- Simultaneous Prompt Broadcast: ARMES dispatches your prompt to both specialist agents in parallel so you can watch them reason and compare their trade-offs side-by-side in real time.
Tabletop Pose: Reasoning Theater & Tactile Command Deck
When you partially fold iPhone Duo horizontally and set it on a desk or table like a miniature laptop (posture === 'tabletop'):
- Top Leaf (Hands-Free Reasoning Theater): The upper screen is dedicated to readable content—streaming AI responses, Deep Research synthesis, Mermaid diagrams, and AI Voice playback—angled comfortably toward you.
- Bottom Leaf (Tactile Command Deck): The lower screen rests flat on the table as a stable touch deck featuring 1-tap quick-action chips (Summarize Thread, Action Items, First-Principles Critique, Pin Reply to Note) above the multi-line prompt composer and mode selector.
Hinge-Driven Liquid Glass & 120Hz ProMotion Guard
- Dynamic Specular Lighting: Using
UIHingeInteraction, ARMES reads the physical hinge angle in real time and subtly shifts the specular light angle on.glass-specularsurfaces as you open or close the display. - 120Hz Fold Shader Guard: During physical fold transitions (
isFolding), ARMES automatically pauses background GPU shader animations and suppresses spurious iOS keyboard height spikes so viewport resizing stays locked at 60–120fps.
